Luckily I enrolled my daughter in a local Nursery and Primary school which was literally 5 minutes walk away (10 for me with a 3 year old). I only had to cross one road. I used to use a reigns (the wrist to wrist velco type) - because I couldn't run after her! After a while she started holding my hand (still with a reign attached) and then reign free. People used to buy her clothes with a zip! I couldn't fasten a zip on my coat never mind a 3 year old! Then one day she learnt how to fasten a zip up and whats more she learnt how to do my zips up! Being a little girl I wanted her to have long hair - but I couldn't tie it up - thanks to the teachers they learnt her how do that has well. Things was on the up! My daughter was about to start proper school and i was about to start looking for work.

We moved house to be near our kids school as there was a busy bypass with no crossing so at some point Id have probably been roadkill!!

Top tip with reins if you have two different aged children loop the rein through the buggy or pram handle/bar somewhere on the frame where it cant pull off - then the toddler can toddle and you are free to sort the buggy/pram out. One of the childminders who comes to my toddler group does it and I never thought to do it when my older two were small.

My Signature
Have a great day xx Marie
